What we collect

When you write to us through Get in touch, we receive what you type: who you are writing as (a food business, an investor, the press, someone asking about careers, or something else), your answer to a follow-up question if we ask one, your message, and the email address you want our reply sent to. We ask for nothing else. You do not have to give us any of it, but without an email address we cannot reply.

Our web server notes each request: the time, the page, the result, the name your browser gives itself and the page that linked to ours. Your IP address is shortened in this log so that it does not point to a single connection. To keep out spam, opening the contact form asks our server for a short-lived pass, which holds no personal data, and the server counts how many messages come from one network in an hour and in a day. When a message arrives, the server also notes its outcome, its length, who you are writing as, your shortened network address and a reference number. None of these logs holds your message or your email address.

We also still hold the address list of our former newsletter, which we no longer send. To be removed from it, write to hello@freshborne.com.

Why, and on what legal basis

We use your message to read it and reply. If you ask for material, for example our investor deck, a person sends it by hand. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). The server log keeps the site working and safe, on the same basis.

Who sees it and where it is kept

Only the people at Freshborne who answer enquiries read your message. It is kept on Freshborne’s own server, which we rent from Hetzner in a data centre in Finland, and in our backups of it, on the same server and on a backup drive we hold in Sweden. Backups are kept for at most 30 days, so a deleted message is gone from them within 30 days. No AI service reads your message, no decision about you is made automatically, and the site sends you no automatic email.

We reply from our own email, which runs on Google Workspace, so our conversation with you is also kept there, stored in Europe.

If you send your note from your own email app, your mail provider carries it to us under its own terms.

We never sell your data or share it for marketing.

How long we keep it

We delete the message and address the website collected a year after our last exchange, unless we are working together by then. The emails we exchange with you stay in our mailbox. The web server's log, and its log of contact messages, are deleted after 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, limit how we use it, get a copy to take elsewhere, or object to our use of it. Write to hello@freshborne.com. You can also complain to Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), the Swedish data protection authority, at imy.se.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. Its fonts and images come from its own server, so a visit contacts no one else. If this changes, this page changes first.
